Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967, in Atlanta. Julia Fona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts living in Atlanta. Her father had keen interest from a young age in theater. When he was a student of Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. When he joined in 1953 the Air force in Biloxi, he was seen together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, the couple got married and their child Eric Anthony was born. In 1957 the couple left the air force and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter was employed to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of the television show Bum Bum His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. In 1964, Walter as well as Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's TV show known as Bum Bum and His Buddies which they funded by themselves. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in the year 1964, and it lasted 6 years. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) and Julia (also called Julie) during this period.
