April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started with guitar and piano in seventh grade. This sparked the interest of her. The first song she wrote was called Different. She wrote it at the age of 12. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of time in writing song ideas and practicing her musical skills. Then, in the following months, April began traveling with her father as well as write her songs either in NY or LA. April also began incorporating various other topics relevant to the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with an ever-growing fan base. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, in addition to being an expert in the field of lifestyle. She was born without her left hand. It's part of who she is--but that's not the entire story. So, Lockhart's Instagram account isn't afraid to talk about her disabilities, yet it doesn't center around her disability either. What is the message? We are all more than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and include a myriad of aspects. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart in a video interview "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define me. It's not my intention to be an influencer on disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." It doesn't affect my everyday life. All is well and I have learned to adapt. But it's also a part of me so I think it's important to talk about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart is an absolute inspiration for this aspect. Lockhart admits to having been through a series of phases regarding her appearance, feeling uneasy in some instances to wear outfits that showcased the arms of her. Today, she wears what she's comfortable in and post images of her outfits to social media with pride. Self-love she said is like a journey. "I do not think that you will ever be in that place," she said. It's a fact that I see for everyone, whatever their insecurity is. It's vital to surround yourself people who can discern and understand your heart.
