Katherine Heigl has opened herself about her experience of being raised in an environment that was a "white bubble" and how the revelation has affected the way she parents her adopted multiracial children. She is the "Firefly Lane" and "Grey's Anatomy" star shared in an interview recently that she was told that when it came to skin tone, it didn't matter to her how she looked like, but after she spoke about her sister's age, who was adopted by South Korea, she realized how different society treated the two of the two. "I inquired of my sister, Meg to tell me if she'd been treated one way when she was out in public with our parents and in a different manner when she was out by herself without them. Meg responded "Oh I do, each and every moment!" Heigl admitted to her parents that this made her realize how foolish she was. According to the actor, she grew angered. She wanted to channel that anger towards aiding her adopted daughters. Heigl shares a son of 4 years with Josh Kelley, her husband for 13 years. The couple adopted their daughters Nancy Leigh, 12, from South Korea in 2009 and Adalaide eight who is Black and was adopted in 2012.
